Kristen Ottenlips M.A. CCC-SLP: A Therapist Spotlight
What brought you to The Speech Spot?
I really enjoy working with the Preschool-Elementary Age population and was looking for a way to continue to do what I love outside of the school day. I've spent the last three years working as a school-based Speech Language Pathologist and spent a little bit of time working in Acute Care. The partnering with families that comes with Private Practice is something that I am drawn to, and have found just that at The Speech Spot. In addition, I've found the other wonderful therapists at The Speech Spot to be great resources!
Do you have any areas of special interest?
Throughout my three years of working in the schools, I've worked with students in the areas of articulation, phonological disorders, AAC, early language learning, language disorders as they relate to the educational setting, fluency, and I've worked with a variety of students on the Autism Spectrum. However, during my undergraduate and graduate school careers, I spent time working in a Literacy Lab as a research assistant and completing additional research in the area of literacy and it's relation to speech and language development. While I have had the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of disabilities and treatment areas, my true passion lies in the world of literacy; I enjoy incorporating a variety of research-based literacy activities into my sessions.
